Details are here! SNAPshots Gala on December 5! Don't Miss this Event with Houston Photographer Brett Chisholm, Project Runway Winner Chloe Dao, Handbag Designer Elaine Turner, and Fashion Stylist Élan Rogers

Friday, December 5 marks the 3rd annual Brett Chisholm Photography event for SNAP. This year promises to be our biggest and BEST event ever, and I hope that you will join me in becoming a part of the solution to the animal overpopulation crisis in Houston by attending this fabulous party! All of the proceeds from the event will benefit SNAP (Spay-Neuter Assistance Program, inc.)

We have outgrown the BCP studio space this year, so our event will take place in the HOUSTON STUDIOS in Downtown Houston. The stellar fashion show will be produced by Élan Rogers of Élan Styles and feature the work of Project Runway winner Chloe Dao and handbag designer Elaine Turner. Strutting their stuff down the runway and showcasing key pieces from Dao's collection throughout the venue will be top models from Houston's premiere fashion agencies Neal Hamil Models and Page.713 Models and Talent. The event also will feature a huge silent auction and an evening of dancing, food, fun, and celebration! Please join us this year as we make this the most successful event in history for SNAP!

Image of the Week 8-16-08, SNAPshots Cover Model Joanne King Herring

The image of the week this week comes from the cover of our newly released SNAPshots Fashion Calendar! The cover features international political figure Joanne King Herring and two rescued Afghan Hounds from the Afghan Hound Rescue of Greater Houston.

You will be hearing more about our calendar that we produced with Chloe Dao and Elaine Turner, with great support from Leifers and Élan Styles in the coming weeks on the blog, but you can order them NOW. To order your calendars, click here.

Each calendar is $30.00 and your purchase goes directly to SNAP to help them further their mission of preventing the suffering and death of healthy dogs and cats due to overpopulation, especially in low income areas. Each day in Houston, over 230 animals are euthanized, and this can all be ended if everyone would spay and neuter their pets.

Image of the Week 7-21-08

We are back! The blog has had to take a back burner while we focus on getting out our new commercial services book, but we are now back in business! We hope you haven't missed us too much... or on second though, maybe we do!

We'll be back to posting regularly, so stay tuned. The first post is our IMAGE OF THE WEEK for July 21. It comes from a recent shoot we did for HOUSTON PET TALK MAGAZINE. Michelle Mantor, editor of the great publication, called and asked if we could come photograph Robert F Kennedy, Jr. before he spoke at the SPCA luncheon. Of course we could! We found out that we would have under five minutes with him, and he would be holding a Falcon.

Say, what? A FALCON? I hope this is HIS falcon, right? Not entirely. It's actually a rescue from the SPCA here in town, and he will have never met the bird before. We were told everything would be okay, as he is a "Master Falconer."

So, Pattie and I arrived and setup. He came down and the bird came over. For his first trick, Mr. Kennedy held the bird with no glove. That did not entirely work out in our favor. The bird did not like the flash too much, and almost clawed off Mr. Kennedy's face. We stood patiently while the rest of our five minutes ticked away as people searched for a glove. With that settled, we were able to take literally 5 or 6 more pictures, and he was whisked away.

The fruits of our labor our below, and we think they turned out great! Let us know what you think...

The image of the Week this week comes from the MACY'S LATINO MODEL SEARCH 2008! We participated with the crew from Page Parkes Models and Macy's for this event for the second year. The finals this year were held at the MACY's GALLERIA location on March 1, 2008. The event benefitted the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION!

The image of the week from this week comes from the Bentwater Easter Pet Parade benefiting the American Cancer Society! We worked on the T-Shirt with these folks, and I think you'll love it!

The 2nd Annual Pet Parade will take place at Bentwater Country Club on lake Conroe on March 22, 2008. The event, which benefits the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, is underwritten by Wealth Management Advisors of Spring, TX. Sponsors of the event include:

Lifestyle Portraits are unique to Brett Chisholm Photography in Houston. These portrait sittings go beyond the traditional portrait environment to showcase a specific moment in your life, a unique emotion or specific feeling you want to capture. This image comes from a photo shoot with an entire family, the Martinez's. The father recently passed away, and this image was to show the family coming together to make it through a difficult time in their life while focusing on the future. We wanted the image to have a serious yet uplifting feel.

This week the image of the week is from the commercial photography section of the website. We chose this image to be the new cover photo for that secion of the website, and we think you will understand why!

A special thank you to Michelle Cowden from Page.713, the model in this shot. We have worked quite extensively with Michelle and she dropped by the studio after having her hair and makeup done by Cerron for us to take a few shots for the website.

We worked with Thomas from the RetouchShoppe on digital enhancement to create an ethereal effect to play off of Michelle's edgy look.
